The view from Ons Huisie Restaurant in Blouberg, of our Table Mountain, in our home town (also ‘ons huisie’)
.
One day I’ll do this beautiful scene more justice. But today is not that day. 😁 The will to paint was veneer-thin.
.
It was one of those days where all the best-laid plans went wonkily awry. And when that happens and I find myself momentarily stuck in my own cobwebs, I am just so gosh-darn grateful to be able to look up and see this beautiful home of ours, just being its stunning, ever-changing but brilliant self.

In the words of dear Johnny Clegg:
.
What can I know?
What can I dream?
What can I hope?
What will the future bring?
You shine through me
But will you see me through?
African sky blue
.
Happy Heritage Day South Africa. May your future shine with beautiful blue sky dreams.

A #365challenge offers you a lesson every single day. It’s like a high-speed internship into the profession of your dreams.⠀

Tasks or projects that are a walk in the park propose little challenge or room for growth for that matter.
This one is no walk in the park. It’s more like a walk in the mountains, in the wild. You go prepared for the unprepared with snake bite kits, hoping you don’t have to use them.
If I give myself just enough time to complete a painting in the afternoon to be able to photograph it in nice light, I’m doing a silly thing really – assuming it will be a walk in the park. Today, a gremlin stole a very particular paintbrush that I needed for the whispy foreground plants. So while I was hunting paintbrushes (and gremlins) my precious light was fading. Foolish girl.
That’s the groovy thing about a #365challenge. Every single day offers you a lesson. It’s like a high-speed internship into the profession of your dreams.
So today’s painting comes with less than ideal light but a nifty reminder to prepare for the unexpected

Has anyone else felt totally churned up inside by some aspect of chaos in their lives these last two days? Apparently, it’s all the waning Taurus moon’s fault. For me, the turbulence was all about the clutter. I just want less – less of everything. And the more I see the chaos the more I crave the space for peace and simplicity.⠀
.⠀
But I love that turbulent bubbling up energy inside me, because I know, stuff is about to reach a tipping point, changes are gonna be prioritised and new beautiful unfoldings will come from it.⠀
.⠀
I’ve always favoured the stormy skies. They’re so dynamic, and far more stimulating for the creative eye too. Cape Town you beautiful, beast.⠀
