Didlee-dum-di-li-du-dum – Didlee-dum-di-li-di-dum-di-dum – It’s the Five-Day Count Down…. to the Burn!
.
I still have not located my magical tickets for art exchange, but
because the Burn enthusiasm is practically palpable and I so want to honour the awesomeness of this event, I’m painting a 5 day count down
to Afrika Burn! (Eeeep if you’re going, sad face fomo if you’re not)
.
The Tower holds deep significance for me. It was my first burn. There
was a piano with Lara, wrapped in meters of deep red fabric, her
haunting melodies and us, a boy and a girl amid a crowd of familiar
strangers. Who can say if it was one or the collective that brought it
on, but my friend and I together released our separate deep emotional
wounds under that tower that day, listening as Lara played out what
was pressing on our hearts.
.
We walked out from under the tower, a little taller and a lot freer
than the versions of us that sat down to listen in the dust.

That’s the desert for you. Inexplicable magic around every corner, under any artwork.

This lovely pic was taken by my AirBnb Guest, Mr Luke Mclean. Say hi
to him if you meet him at the burn
