I struggled to get their bodies to look like elephants in the tall grass until I realised I should just paint the tails in. So it seems sometimes the exact thing we’re holding off on is all that’s needed to make the big picture make sense again.

A painting of the Okavango Delta on World Wetlands Day🤗

This painting was quite amusing to work on. I had a bit of a ‘pin the tail on the donkey’ moment.
.
I was trying so hard to get the grass just perfect, and the shading on the elephants just right before I painted in their tails, but I just couldn’t get it to feel like I was looking at ‘elephant bodies’ in tall grass Eventually it clicked that I just needed to paint in their teeny tiny grassland swaying tails for it to fall into place as elephants migrating through grass. 😝

Funny that, sometimes the exact thing we’re holding off on is all that’s needed to make the big picture make sense again. .
