I’m always mesmerised by the patterns the ocean makes with the sand as she draws in her tides and consequently also draws all over the beach.
.
Today I played around some more with a palette knife to get both textures for detailed sand and smooth sand. It’s kinda fun doing something you haven’t yet figured out fully. There are mystery and magic there.
.
Tools like a palette knife offer a somewhat control freak individual like me (yes you can at once be hippie-dippie and a bit on the OCD spectrum) the element of unpredictability. Which to me, is the real magic to painting nature – capturing that seeming appearance of chaos while knowing there are deeply embedded patterns at play. I think I’m learning the trick is ‘letting go of desires toward imitation.’
