Drawing Insight from Wood

Wood. Most of us will have at least something if not many things in our homes made of wood. Wood is comforting, grounding and restorative to be around. Why? Because wood was once a tree. Whether we’re aware of it or not, nature is still around us, still serving us. Today’s drawing is to honour the gift of wood from the trees.

Find something in your home made of wood. Anything. A wooden spoon, a carved bowl, an incense holder, a salt and pepper grinder – notice how much wood you have and pick something to draw.

  1. Find somewhere comfortable to sit.
  2. Set the wooden object down in front of you begin to draw it.
  3. Don’t sensor your drawing skills. If you make quick sketches do that. If you like line drawings do that. This is more about opening a tap into your intuitive self than creating a masterpiece.

Now while you draw your wooden object just take some time to give a little gratitude to everything that wooden objects in your home allow you to accomplish.

At the end of today, if you feel inspired to you can share your drawing insights in the comments. I’d love to share and support you in your journey.

You’ve done a week of daily drawings – well done!
